Terms of use
Last updated: 25 October 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Francesco Noferi, Via Carlo Collodi 27, 50059 Vinci (FI), Italy ("we"), who make the Pilefall app. By using the app you agree to them. Questions: hello@shpapps.dev.
1. What Pilefall does
Pilefall recognises trading cards from your phone's camera, one at a time or as you drop them onto a pile, and keeps your collection: binders, conditions, set progress, a wishlist. Recognition runs on your phone and can be wrong, especially for similar printings, reverse holos and cards it cannot read clearly: check the cards that matter, and correct any that it got wrong.
Next to a card, Pilefall shows a reference price: the trend price from Cardmarket's public price guide, for any condition and all languages, on the date shown. It is a reference, not an offer, a valuation or advice: what a card sells for depends on its condition, language and the market on the day. Pilefall does not grade cards, does not say what a card is worth, and does not buy, sell or trade cards. Check anything that matters before you buy or sell.
2. Who can use it
Pilefall is made for adult collectors. You must be at least 14 years old to use it, or have a parent's or guardian's permission.
3. No account
The app needs no account. On first launch it gets a random install id from our server. Your collection, wishlist and settings are saved on your phone: if you delete the app or its data without a backup, they are gone, and we cannot bring them back. You can back your collection up to a file or export it as a spreadsheet at any time (Settings), and your phone's own backups include it.
4. Free cards and Pilefall Pro
- Scanning single cards, the collection, binders, sets, the wishlist, backups and spreadsheets are free, with no limit.
- Pile mode counts 50 cards a day for free (the day starts at midnight, your phone's time). A pile is never cut short: the pile that reaches the 50th card counts on for up to 50 cards more, and all of it can go into your collection; the next pile waits for the next day, or for Pilefall Pro. A count you take off a pile is given back.
- Pilefall Pro counts piles with no daily limit. It is sold as a yearly or a monthly plan, or as Lifetime, paid once. There is no free trial.
- The yearly and monthly plans renew automatically at the end of each period (a year or a month) until you cancel them in your App Store or Google Play account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; Pro stays active until the end of the period you paid for. A week before a yearly plan renews, the app reminds you with a notification, if you allow notifications.
- Lifetime is paid once, never renews, and keeps Pro for as long as we offer Pilefall.
- Pro belongs to your App Store or Google Play account: after reinstalling the app, or on a new phone, tap "Restore purchases" on the Pilefall Pro screen (Settings → Pilefall Pro) to get it back. When Pro ends, everything you counted and added stays yours.
- Apple and Google sell Pilefall Pro and handle payment, prices (shown in the store before you buy), refunds and your right of withdrawal under their own terms: Apple, Google Play.
5. Using it fairly
Do not use the app or its server for anything other than what they are for (for example through scripts, bots or a modified app), and do not try to get around their limits. Reports and feedback you send must be about the app, and must not contain anything illegal or meant to harm anyone.
6. Your collection and what you send us
Your collection and your notes stay yours. When you report a wrong match, correct a card or send feedback, you allow us to use what you sent to improve Pilefall, as our privacy policy describes.
7. Ours, and other people's
The app, its design, its sounds and its texts belong to us. Card names, card artwork, game names, symbols and logos belong to their owners. Pilefall is an unofficial, independent app: it is not affiliated with, endorsed or sponsored by The Pokémon Company, Nintendo, Creatures, GAME FREAK or any other card game publisher, and their names are used only to say which cards the app recognises. Pilefall contains no card images: the only cards you see in it are the ones in front of your camera.
Card names and numbers come from TCGdex, and reference prices from Cardmarket's public price guide. Pilefall is not affiliated with Cardmarket or TCGdex. "Open on Cardmarket" opens Cardmarket's website, where Cardmarket's own terms apply.
8. Availability
We work to keep Pilefall running and its card data and reference prices current, but our server can be unavailable at times, new sets may take a while to arrive, and features can change. Recognition and your collection keep working without a connection; prices and new sets then wait until you are online again.
9. Liability
Pilefall gives information, not professional advice. We are not liable for decisions you make based on what it shows, including recognitions and reference prices, or for indirect losses, except where the law does not allow this to be limited, including for damage caused intentionally or through gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits the rights you have as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.
10. App Store
If you got Pilefall from the App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple; Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app.
11. Changes and ending
We may update these terms when the app changes; the date at the top shows the latest version, and we tell you in the app about changes that matter. You can stop using Pilefall at any time by deleting it (back up your collection first if you want to keep it).
12. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of Italy. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live, and you can bring a claim in the courts there. Before going to court, please write to us: most problems are solved by an email.
